Everything will perish, save love and music. (Gaelic proverb)
Last week someone made mention of going to the Hyde Park Music Series event being held today. I had attended this event a couple of times over the years, though it had been a while since I last attended. After working a little late to let traffic settle, I headed over and join a few acquaintances from the social group. The band playing was pretty good and the overcast sky and threatening storm in the distance kept things cool. With tons of other activities going on these days and large social or work functions happening regularly, it was nice to relax and bit and enjoy the evening over a couple of decently cheap beers. While Brandon is a good distance away, the elevated crosstown expressway makes the trip quite manageable and provides lovely views of the Tampa skyline on the way home.

The plural of "musical instrument" is "orchestra"

I explained to the guy about the change thing and tried to give him my address and phone number so I could later send more money, however he politely declined any additional money other than the last two dollar bills that I had thrust into his hand. Apparently he did web design for the orchestra and instead of getting paid, they gave him tickets to events. sine they were nearly free, this person could have just as easily not even taken the time to offer them to someone standing in line, especially when the concert was minutes away from starting. Though they left during intermission, I did try to extend my appreciation and get a chance to chat for a few minutes.

Great musical clip.
Here is a great clip from one of my favorite shows this season, 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip'. This is great intelligent comedy that is well written, which means that it'll probably be canceled since those that cannot get it will not watch, and thus kill the ratings. Anyway, the basic storyline was that a lot of displaced NOLA musicians had wound up in Los Angeles. Since they were not union certified, they couldn't find jobs, so a lot of band players were calling in sick so they could get temporary gigs to send some money home for Christmas. The producers figured it out and got several of them together as the musical act for the show. The video has some of the show's dialog in it, but it really doesn't detract from the overall effect (and I actually received some inspiration from it). I didn't want to embed it in the profile or blog (since I figure it is cramped enough as it is already), so just use the YourTube link below.

In the least I recommend you download and listen to the uninterrupted music that was released on the NBC website.
